Pheasant Hunting

By December 14, 2010 December 16th, 2010 Hunting Dog Talk

This past week I was able to get out and do some Pheasant hunting with my wife and friends. It was a beautiful cool day the moister from this months snow was still in the ground and the birds were holding tight. I enjoy going to 4 mile hunting club a few times each year it has become one of my family’s traditions. The reason I like this preserve so much is because they have great cover to work your dogs and the birds fly hard and fast. It is getting harder and harder to find a great place to go hunt pheasants in Utah. I took my old male fritz and my new Brittany puppy Sadie (1 year old). Fritz started the day off strong and had some great points and retrieves. Sadie the little Brittany puppy didn’t know quite what to look for since this was her first pheasant hunt. She figured it out after a few hours and helped us find a couple of crippled birds and even pointed a hen. It’s always good to get out and take your wife with you. I’m so thankful for my wife and her patience with me and my addiction to hunting dogs. Heck Sadie worked better for her than for me, since Ashley took care of her as a pup I guess that was my payback. Love you Honey can’t wait to go hunting again.
